Rookies Rush, Hibbert lift Pacers in second half

Oct 16, 2008 - 1:56 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Rookies Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert both had a big second half as the Indiana Pacers captured a 100-93 preseason victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

A key member of Kansas' national championship squad, Rush scored all 15 of his points after halftime, including 10 in the fourth quarter.

Hibbert, who reached the Final Four with Georgetown in 2007, collected 13 of his 15 points in the second half and grabbed five rebounds.

With Indiana holding a 75-72 lead entering the fourth, Rush and Hibbert combined to score 16 of the Pacers' first 20 points, helping to extend the advantage to 95-86 with 3:55 remaining.

Rush opened the quarter with a dunk and added an 18-foot jumper following two straight baskets by Hibbert for an 83-78 lead with 9:07 left. The former Jayhawk swingman also connected on consecutive shots before the 7-2 Hibbert capped the stellar stretch with a tip off a missed 3-pointer by John Davis.

Danny Granger led the Pacers (2-2) with 18 points, despite sitting out most of the second half.

Antoine Wright netted 14 points to lead Dallas, which limited Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard to 12 minutes apiece.

The Mavericks absorbed their first loss in four preseason games.
