Smith, Nuggets cruise by Raptors

Oct 22, 2008 - 3:36 AM EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- J.R. Smith scored 22 points and Nene added 15 as the Denver Nuggets posted a 105-94 victory over the Toronto Raptors at Rexall Place on Tuesday.

Carmelo Anthony had 15 points, six rebounds and six assists for Denver, which shot 54 percent (39-of-72) from the field.

The Nuggets used an 11-2 run to close the first quarter and take a 24-17 lead.

Denver never trailed again, extending the bulge to 58-47 at the intermission and holding a nine-point lead entering the final quarter.

Andrea Bargnani scored 19 points and Jose Calderon had 18 and seven assists to lead Toronto.

Nuggets guard Allen Iverson sat out with a sprained right ankle. He is expected to be ready for Denver's season opener at the Utah Jazz on October 29.
