Nets aim to keep Warriors winless on trip

Dec 18, 2006 - 3:16 PM Golden State (12-13) at New Jersey (9-14) 7:30 pm EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets try to steer the Golden State Warriors towards a third consecutive loss on their six-game road trip Monday.

The Nets, who have endured back-to-back setbacks, are built to accomplish the task since they own an eight-game winning streak against the Warriors here.

If New Jersey is to end its slide, it will need All-Star Vince Carter to snap out of his current slump. The 6-6 swingman has scored a total of 24 points in his last two contests. He has shot just 24 percent (9-of-38) from the field while making only 2-of-15 3-point attempts.

Nenad Krstic scored a season-high 27 points and Jason Kidd added 13, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Nets absorbed a 90-82 defeat against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Golden State lost, 120-115, to Toronto on Sunday. Monta Ellis scored 28 points, but committed seven turnovers and Baron Davis added 20 points and 11 assists for the Warriors, who were outrebounded, 50-38.

These teams split a pair of meetings last season.
