Knicks could be missing some reserves vs. Jazz

Dec 18, 2006 - 3:39 PM Utah (18-6) at New York (9-17) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks could be a little shorthanded Monday when the Utah Jazz continue their five-game road trip at Madison Square Garden.

A few New York reserves could miss the contest if the NBA hands out its list of suspensions from the brawl that took place against Denver on Saturday in the closing moments of the game.

Rookie Mardy Collins, who delivered the hard foul against J.R. Smith that triggered the melee, could miss some time as well as Nate Robinson, who got into a wrestling match with Smith in the seats along the baseline.

Jared Jeffries could be penalized after an angry but unsuccessful attempt to get his hands on Carmelo Anthony, who punched Collins to rekindle the madness when order was nearly restored.

Collins, Robinson, Jeffries, David Lee and Channing Frye were all ejected along with the five Denver players involved.

The 123-100 rout was New York's second straight loss. Stephon Marbury scored 31 points and handed out eight assists and Eddy Curry added 19 points.

Meanwhile, the Jazz opened their trek with a 104-94 win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Carlos Boozer collected 18 points and 11 rebounds and Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur both added 17 points.

The Knicks own a four-game winning streak against the Jazz.
