Suns have good chance of keeping win streak alive
Dec 19, 2006 - 3:27 PM Toronto (10-14) at Phoenix (17-6) 9:00 pm ESTPHOENIX (Ticker) -- Fifteen consecutive wins should not be a problem when the Phoenix Suns host the Toronto Raptors, who are kicking off a four-game road trip, on Tuesday.
By extending their winning streak to 15 games Tuesday, the Suns can eclipse the franchise record set from December 1-30, 1992, by the team that reached the 1993 NBA Finals.
What makes this milestone reachable is the fact that the Raptors have dropped the last four meetings with the Suns and are a lowly 3-11 on the road this season.
Amare Stoudemire scored 20 points and Leandro Barbosa added 18 as Phoenix posted a 105-98 victory over Sacramento on Saturday. Two-time MVP Steve Nash had 16 points and 12 assists and Raja Bell chipped in 15 points for the Suns, who shot 52 percent (42-of-81) from the floor.
Toronto extended its winning streak to three games after a 120-115 win over Golden State on Sunday. Morris Peterson netted 23 points, tying a season high, and T.J. Ford added 21 and 14 assists.
Rookies Andrea Bargnani and Jorge Garbajosa both scored 18 points for the Raptors, who won the rebounding battle, 50-38.
