Without Iverson, 76ers aim to end 11-game skid vs. Pacers
Dec 20, 2006 - 3:53 PM Indiana (13-13) at Philadelphia (5-18) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Without Allen Iverson, the Philadelphia 76ers have a tough road ahead. They will start with by trying to end an 11-game skid.
With the Iverson trade finally completed, the 76ers will host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
Second in the NBA in scoring this season, Iverson made national headlines when he requested a trade two weeks ago. Sixers chairman Ed Snider confirmed the news on December 8, stating that the team would accommodate Iverson's wishes.
The trade sends guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks to the Denver Nuggets for Iverson and forward Ivan McFarlin. It is unclear if Miller or Smith will be available on Wednesday.
Andre Iguodala scored 27 points for Philadelphia, which shot 49 percent (39-of-80) in a 103-98 loss at San Antonio on Saturday. The Sixers also played without Chris Webber, who missed the last two contests with a sprained ankle.
On Sunday, Jermaine O'Neal finished with 31 points and nine rebounds for the Pacers, who shot less than 37 percent (27-of-74) in a 104-94 loss to Utah. Al Harrington, who averages 16.8 points, was scoreless in 24 minutes for Indiana, which had a six-game winning streak at Conseco Fieldhouse snapped.
Indiana has won three straight against the Sixers, including a 97-86 victory on November 7.
