Timberwolves look to extend Lakers' losing skid

Dec 20, 2006 - 4:53 PM LA Lakers (16-9) at Minnesota (10-11) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves aim to even up their season series with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves endured a 95-88 setback to the Lakers on November 7 at the Staples Center. A similar outcome could be avoided if the Wolves can take advantage of the Lakers' recent struggles here.

Minnesota has won eight of the last 11 meetings here against Los Angeles at the Target Center.

Kevin Garnett scored 26 points and Mark Blount added 16 and 10 rebounds, but the Wolves endured their second straight loss, a 108-104 setback to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

Ricky Davis had 15 points and four steals for Minnesota, which committed 17 turnovers.

Los Angeles also absorbed back-to-back losses, the latest a 94-89 defeat Tuesday to Chicago on the first stop of a six-game road trip. Kobe Bryant scored 19 points prior to fouling out and Kwame Brown contributed 18 and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, who made just 3-of-19 3-pointers.
