Cavaliers visit Nets, look to snap three-game road skid
Dec 20, 2006 - 5:01 PM Cleveland (14-9) at New Jersey (10-14) 8:00 pm ESTEAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- If the Cleveland Cavaliers want to be a championship contender, they will need to improve their road record.
The Cavaliers will look to avoid their fourth straight loss away from home Wednesday when they take on the New Jersey Nets.
Cleveland is just one game behind Detroit in the Central Division, thanks in large part to its 11-2 record at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavaliers are 3-7 on the road, including losses in six of their last seven contests. In its three-game road skid, Cleveland is averaging just 75 points.
It wasn't any better on Saturday. LeBron James scored 29 points and Drew Gooden added 14 and 12 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who shot just 36 percent (27-of-75) and had one of their worst offensive performances of the season in an 81-74 loss to Orlando.
Jason Kidd had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists for the Nets, who shot 40 percent (38-of-95) from the field in a 105-97 victory over Golden State on Monday.
It was Kidd's 81st triple-double of his career. The seven-time All-Star has six triple-doubles this season, two more than the rest of the league combined.
New Jersey, which is in the midst of playing 10 of 11 games at Continental Airlines Arena, split its four contests with the Cavaliers last season.
