Mavericks look to continue dominance of SuperSonics
Dec 20, 2006 - 5:33 PM Dallas (18-7) at Seattle (10-16) 10:30 pm ESTSEATTLE (Ticker) - The Dallas Mavericks look to continue their mastery of the slumping Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday.
The SuperSonics have lost six straight games to the Mavericks dating to December 8, 2004. This is their first meeting this season.
Seattle has been struggling against every team, losing five straight games, all on the road. Dallas has won four in a row and 18 of its last 21 games.
Dallas' latest win was a 109-91 victory at Sacramento on Monday in which Dirk Nowitzki collected 29 points and 13 rebounds and Josh Howard scored 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting. Nowitzki leads Dallas in scoring at 24.1 points, 14th in the NBA.
One reason Seattle has struggled is the absence of Ray Allen, who has missed the last eight games with an ankle injury. The SuperSonics won their first three games without their sweet-shooting All-Star guard but failed to break 93 points in the first four losses of the slide until Monday.
Seattle's latest loss was a 134-126 double-overtime defeat at Memphis on Monday. Rashard Lewis led Seattle with a season-high 36 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds.
Seattle is 6-6 with four straight wins at KeyArena.
