Iverson seeks first win as a Nugget

Dec 26, 2006 - 4:45 PM Boston (10-15) at Denver (14-10) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- Superstar Allen Iverson was impressive during his debut in the Rocky Mountains. This time, he hopes a victory will follow on Tuesday.

The Denver Nuggets will host the shorthanded Boston Celtics, who begin a five-game West Coast swing.

In his first game since being traded from Philadelphia, Iverson had 22 points and 11 assists off the bench in Friday's 101-96 setback to the Sacramento Kings.

The acquisition of Iverson will ease the loss of NBA scoring leader Carmelo Anthony, who is serving a 15-game suspension for his involvement in a brawl with the New York Knicks 10 days ago.

The Celtics are dealing with a loss of their own with All-Star Paul Pierce, who will miss two to three weeks with a left foot injury. He leads Boston in points (26.6), rebounds (7.4) and assists (4.3).

Al Jefferson collected 20 points and 14 rebounds and high-flying Gerald Green also scored 20 points but the Celtics fell, 98-83, to the 76ers on Friday.

Boston has dropped two straight games since winning a season-high five in a row.
