Arenas, Wizards look to continue splendid play vs. Bobcats

Dec 27, 2006 - 3:58 PM Washington (15-12) at Charlotte (7-20) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Gilbert Arenas is proving to be one of the most talented offensive players in the NBA.

Averaging nearly 42 points per game in his team's four-game Western road trip, Arenas will look to continue his stellar play when the Washington Wizards visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

Named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice this month, Arenas scored 31 points and Antawn Jamison added 26 as the Wizards used a high-powered attack to rout Memphis, 116-101, for their ninth win in 11 games.

A two-time All-Star, Arenas has topped the 30-point plateau 10 times this month, including 60 and 54-point efforts.

Arenas enters Wednesday's contest ranked third in the NBA in scoring at 30.2 points per game. On Tuesday, he shot 9-of-13 from the floor, 10-of-10 from the line and dished out seven assists.

Rookie Adam Morrison scored 17 points for Charlotte, which shot 41 percent (31-of-76) in a 97-84 loss to Indiana on Tuesday. The Bobcats have lost four of their last five games.

Charlotte has lost eight of the nine contests against the Wizards in the all-time series.
