Jazz look to end road skid vs. Spurs

Dec 28, 2006 - 4:21 PM Utah (21-8) at San Antonio (21-8) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The Utah Jazz have been one of the NBA's most pleasant surprises this season. However, they won't be able to surprise the San Antonio Spurs a second time.

The Jazz aim to end their long drought in San Antonio on Thursday when they visit the Spurs in a clash between two of the Western Conference's top teams.

After failing to reach the postseason in three consecutive campaigns, Utah has stormed out of the gate with a 21-8 record in 2006-07.

The Jazz made a strong statement on November 29, when they grinded out an 83-75 triumph over the Spurs.

However, Utah figures to be hard-pressed to conjure up another win here in San Antonio, a site where it has dropped 14 straight games and has not won since May 2, 1999.

Carlos Boozer had 26 points and 10 rebounds while Mehmet Okur added 24 points and 11 boards as the Jazz continued their home dominance of the Clippers with a 102-92 victory on Tuesday.

Tim Duncan had 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs, who allowed their most points this season in a 114-107 loss to Milwaukee on Tuesday.

San Antonio's undermanned roster had a lot to do it with its poor play. With the stomach flu attacking San Antonio's locker room, the Spurs were without guards Brent Barry and Manu Ginobili and forward Matt Bonner.
