Knicks look to continue stellar play vs. Suns

Dec 29, 2006 - 3:52 PM New York (13-18) at Phoenix (19-8) 9:00 pm EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Since an embarrassing brawl, the New York Knicks have been a different team.

The red-hot Knicks aim for their fifth win in six games since their well-publicized brawl when they open a five-game road trip against the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

On December 19, New York was involved in a wild melee with the Denver Nuggets at Madison Square Garden.

As a result of suspensions and injuries, the Knicks have been shorthanded recently, but it has not mattered. Since the brawl, New York has gone 4-1, winning three overtime contests over that stretch.

Stephon Marbury scored a season-high 41 points Wednesday to lead New York to a thrilling 151-145 triple-overtime victory over Detroit.

After needing extra sessions to defeat Utah and Charlotte last week, the Knicks improved to 4-0 in overtime this season.

After a franchise-record 15-game winning streak, the Suns have lost two of their last three contests.

Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 13 rebounds but missed a potential game-tying shot in Phoenix's 101-99 loss to Dallas on Thursday.
