Duncan, Parker look to lead Spurs at home vs. slumping Hawks

Dec 31, 2006 - 4:27 PM Atlanta (9-19) at San Antonio (22-8) 3:30 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs look to record their ninth straight win at home against the Atlanta Hawks when the two teams square off on Sunday.

The Spurs managed to halt a two-game home losing streak Thursday, posting a 106-83 victory over the Utah Jazz.

Tony Parker scored 22 points while Duncan added 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for San Antonio, which has scored more than 100 points in six of its last seven games.

The Hawks dropped the opener of a three-game road trip on Friday, a 94-68 loss to the Houston Rockets.

Josh Childress scored 15 points for Atlanta, which was held to a season low in points on just 35 percent (25-of-72) shooting. It also failed to make a 3-pointer for the first time this year, going 0-of-11 from the arc.

Joe Johnson, the Hawks' leading scorer at 26.3 points per game, was held to just 11. The 6-7 swingman is averaging just 11.0 in his last three games for Atlanta, which has recorded just 75.0 points in that span.

The Hawks have lost a season-high six straight games and 10 of their last 11.
