Injury-depleted Warriors continue road trip vs. Hornets
Jan 2, 2007 - 3:20 PM Golden State (16-16) at New Orleans (12-18) 8:00 pm ESTOKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- Still searching for their first playoff appearance since 1994, the Golden State Warriors have found it difficult to find team chemistry this season.
The injury-plagued Warriors look for their fifth win in seven games Tuesday when they continue their three-game road trip with their final meeting of the campaign against the New Orleans Hornets.
Fourth-leading scorer Jason Richardson (12.7) broke his right hand in Saturday's 119-96 loss to the Sacramento Kings. He also missed eight games this season with a bone bruise in his left knee and has struggled to match last season's 23.2 scoring average.
Golden State is already without second-leading scorer Monta Ellis (17.1), who is sidelined with a bruised right shoulder. Troy Murphy missed 10 games with a sore left foot before returning Saturday.
New Orleans has dropped eight of its last 10 contests and also had its share of injury woes.
Last season's Rookie of the Year Chris Paul has missed the last three contests with a sprained right ankle. Peja Stojakovic recently underwent back surgery, Bobby Jackson had a cracked rib and David West an injured elbow.
Marc Jackson scored 22 points, Desmond Mason added 17 and Devin Brown 10 with 10 rebounds for the Hornets in Saturday's 94-80 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Golden State has won two of the three meetings against the Hornets this season, including a 101-80 triumph on December 9. Mickael Pietrus led the Warriors with 22 points.
