Iverson faces former team for first time since trade from 76ers

Jan 2, 2007 - 3:47 PM Philadelphia (8-22) at Denver (16-12) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- While still getting used to his new surroundings, Allen Iverson is about to face some old friends.

A four-time league scoring champ, Iverson plays against his former team for the first time since his December 19 trade when the Denver Nuggets host the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

Iverson averaged 28.0 points in his first 10 seasons with Philadelphia and is second in the league this season (30.6), trailing suspended-teammate Carmelo Anthony. He was sent to the Nuggets for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two draft picks.

Denver has lost three of five games since the deal, including Sunday's 89-85 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Iverson made 10-of-17 shots and scored 28 points and Earl Boykins added 20 points for the Nuggets.

Playing the fifth contest of a seven-game road trip, Philadelphia is 3-3 since its 12-game losing streak and has the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Kyle Korver scored 29 points, Andre Igoudala added 19 and Miller 13 for the 76ers, who lost for the third time in four contests with Sunday's 104-94 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony scored 31 points and Miller added 18 for the Nuggets in a 108-101 win over Philadelphia on November 10. Korver led the 76ers with 23 points and Iverson had 21.
