Spurs aim to rebound from a rare loss

Jan 3, 2007 - 4:41 PM San Antonio (23-9) at Minnesota (14-15) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs have not lost many ballgames this season, but when they have, they have responded very well.

The Spurs try to shake off a rare loss when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

San Antonio, 7-3 in its last 10 and 11-4 on the road this season, lost in its last outing, 82-78, to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. The loss was uncharacteristic for the Spurs, who only shot 38 percent from the field and only notched 10 points in the third quarter.

Tim Duncan was his usual consistent self with 18 points and 15 rebounds while Tony Parker led San Antonio with 26 points.

Kevin Garnett led Minnesota, 4-2 in its last six outings, to a 102-96 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday. Garnett, averaging 21.1 points per game this season, netted 32 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds.

Like Duncan, Garnett has been consistent this season. He has led Minnesota in scoring in 18 of its 29 games this season.
