Iverson, Nuggets hope to end four-game slide

Jan 6, 2007 - 5:12 PM Utah (23-10) at Denver (16-14) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- The struggling Denver Nuggets are starting to show the effects of not having league-leading scorer Carmelo Anthony on the court.

The Nuggets aim to snap their four-game losing streak when they welcome in the Northwest Division leading Utah Jazz come calling on Saturday.

Earl Boykins scored 24 points and superstar Allen Iverson chipped in 16 for Denver in Friday's 123-104 defeat at the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nuggets fell to 3-5 since Anthony and J.R. Smith were both suspended for their involvement in the brawl at New York on December 16. Anthony has seven games left before his return, while Smith has just two remaining.

Deron Williams scored 19 points and Carlos Boozer notched his 25th double-double this season as the Jazz fell, 100-86, to the Houston Rockets.

The Jazz have won the last three matchups against the Nuggets and hold a 5 1/2 game advantage in the division.
