Bryant, Lakers hope to end Mavericks' 13-game winning streak

Jan 7, 2007 - 2:46 PM Dallas (27-7) at LA Lakers (22-11) 9:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson might need superstar Kobe Bryant to revert back to his old ways for this one.

Bryant and the Lakers hope to end the Dallas Mavericks's 13-game winning streak Sunday when the Western Conference powerhouses square off at Staples Center.

Dallas is just one win shy from tying a franchise high established during the 2002-03 campaign.

The last time Bryant stepped on the court against Dallas here, he delivered an amazing 62-point performance through three quarters before resting the entire fourth period on December 20, 2005.

Smush Parker scored 23 points and Andrew Bynum chipped in 19, 10 rebounds and six blocks as the Lakers won their third straight game with a 123-104 triumph over Denver on Friday.

Bryant scored just eight points in the win, his lowest output this season. However, he did hand out 10 assists.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 36 points and Josh Howard added 18 and 12 rebounds in Friday's 90-85 come-from-behind victory at San Antonio.

Los Angeles has an impressive 15-4 record here, including 9-1 against conference foes.
