Randolph, Trail Blazers face shorthanded Heat

Jan 7, 2007 - 3:37 PM Miami (13-19) at Portland (14-20) 9:00 pm EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Zach Randolph and the Portland Trail Blazers just ended their slide. Now they hope to snap their home skid, as well.

The Trail Blazers aim to build off a thrilling win and end their three-game home losing streak Sunday when they host the undermanned Miami Heat.

Zach Randolph had 38 points and 15 rebounds and rookie Brandon Roy added a season-best 23 points as the Blazers snapped their four-game skid with a 110-105 overtime victory at Sacramento on Saturday.

Portland also has dropped three straight here, including Wednesday's 99-81 loss to the New York Knicks. The Blazers have not won at home since a 100-85 triumph over the New Orleans Hornets on December 27.

The sixth overall pick in June, Roy has been impressive since missing 20 games with a heel injury, averaging 14.8 points over his last nine outings.

"(Roy) is a great player. He's my Rookie of the Year," Randolph said. "He's ready. He played like it, he played four years at Washington. It just shows you what staying in college does. He was ready to play. He steps on the court and does what he does."

Alonzo Mourning scored 15 points and Gary Payton and Jason Williams added 14 apiece for Miami, which dropped a 108-80 decision at Phoenix on Friday.

The Heat hope that injured superstar Dwyane Wade will be available for Sunday's contest. He has missed the last five games with a sprained right wrist. Miami is 0-6 without the All-Star in the lineup.
