Clippers look to correct road woes against Hornets

Jan 8, 2007 - 2:53 PM LA Clippers (15-19) at New Orleans (12-21) 8:00 pm EST

OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The road-weary Los Angeles Clippers picked a good time to visit the New Orleans Hornets.

The Clippers aim for just their fourth road win of the season Monday when they square off with the injury-riddled Hornets.

One of the NBA's surprise teams last season, Los Angeles has gotten off to a slow start in 2006-07 largely due to its 3-13 road record, the second-worst mark in the league.

The Clippers have lost three of the first four contests on their six-game road trip, averaging just 88.3 points in the three losses.

Elton Brand scored 24 points Saturday but could not help the Clippers avoid an 86-74 loss to the lowly Atlanta Hawks. Tim Thomas netted 14 points for Los Angeles, which shot 40 percent (28-of-70) from the floor.

On Monday, the Clippers square off with a Hornets squad that has been devastated by injuries this season.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Chris Paul has been sidelined for the last six games with a sprained ankle and will miss at least two more weeks. Fellow starters Peja Stojakovic (back) and David West (elbow) both have been out since November.

Desmond Mason scored 28 points and Jannero Pargo added 14 off the bench in the Hornets' 100-93 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.

Tyson Chandler netted 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hornets, who have lost four straight games and 18 of their last 22.
