Spurs aim for second straight win; Parker questionable

Jan 9, 2007 - 2:55 PM Portland (14-21) at San Antonio (24-11) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Without its star point guard, the San Antonio Spurs turned to his veteran backcourt mate to snap a season-high skid.

With Tony Parker listed as day-to-day, the Spurs aim for their second straight victory when they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

With Parker sidelined with a strained right hip Sunday, San Antonio relied on Manu Ginobili, who had one of his best games of the season. The 6-6 guard scored a season-high 36 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from 3-point range in a 110-96 win over Memphis.

Prior to defeating the Grizzlies, the Spurs had dropped three consecutive contests, including a 90-85 loss to rival Dallas on Friday.

Parker, whose return for Tuesday is questionable, is averaging 19.7 points and 5.9 assists.

The Trail Blazers have lost five of their last six contests. Rookie Brandon Roy scored 18 points and Zach Randolph added 15 for Portland, which dropped a 93-90 decision to Miami.

San Antonio has won six in a row and 13 of its last 14 contests against the Blazers.
