Suns can extend winning streak to seven vs. struggling Sonics
Jan 9, 2007 - 3:14 PM Seattle (13-23) at Phoenix (25-8) 9:00 pm ESTPHOENIX (Ticker) -- More often than not, good things happen when Steve Nash is running the Phoenix Suns' offense.
The two-time reigning MVP, Nash tries to lead the Suns to their seventh consecutive victory and 25th in their last 28 contests in Tuesday's encounter with the Seattle SuperSonics.
Averaging 19.9 points and 11.0 assists this season, Nash can become the first player to finish with season averages of 20 points and 11 assists since Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and Kevin Johnson both accomplished the feat in 1989-1990.
A four-time All-Star, Nash hit his 1,000th career 3-pointer, scored 14 points and collected 10 assists for the Suns in Sunday's 128-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors. The Canadian became the ninth player in history to collect 10,000 points, 5,000 assists and 1,000 3-pointers.
Leandro Barbosa scored 26 points, James Jones added 25 and Shawn Marion chipped in 24 with 17 rebounds for Phoenix, which has won its last four home games by an average of 24 points.
Seattle continues to feel the absence of second-leading scorer Rashard Lewis (21.9), who is sidelined with an injured tendon in his right hand. The SuperSonics have lost four straight overall and 12 in a row on the road since November 22.
Ray Allen made 11-of-17 shots and scored a season-high 38 points and Chris Wilcox added 22 for Seattle in Saturday's 108-104 defeat to the Warriors.
The Suns and Sonics split their four meetings last season.
