Slumping Sonics aim to snap losing streak

Jan 12, 2007 - 3:20 PM Utah (24-11) at Seattle (13-25) 10:30 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - The Seattle SuperSonics have had trouble beating anybody recently, and the last thing they need to see is a strong club like the Utah Jazz.

Seattle tries to avoid its seventh straight loss when it hosts the Jazz on Friday.

The SuperSonics, whose latest defeat was a 107-103 home setback to the Miami Heat on Wednesday, have been decent at home this season, going 9-9. Ray Allen led Seattle with 29 points while Chris Wilcox added 28.

Defense has been a problem for the Sonics, who give up an average of 102.2 points, the seventh-highest total in the NBA.

The Jazz are only 1-2 in their last three, but they have been losing to some powerful clubs. Utah's last two losses have come to the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks, teams with a combined record of 52-21.

Utah is coming off a 108-105 loss to Dallas on Tuesday - just its third defeat in 17 home games this season.

Carlos Boozer, who is averaging 21.7 points and 11.6 rebounds, led the Jazz with 29 points.
