Celtics look to end three-game slide vs. Pistons

Jan 13, 2007 - 5:05 PM Boston (12-23) at Detroit (20-14) 7:30 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Coach Doc Rivers and the injury-riddled Boston Celtics might be hitting the Motor City just at the right time.

The Celtics aims to end their three-game losing streak Saturday when they visit the Detroit Pistons, who have dropped three of four games.

Boston is coming off a 95-86 setback to the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Rookie Rajon Rondo scored a season-high 23 points and Gerald Green added 13.

The Celtics have been hit by the injury bug in a major way this season as Paul Pierce (foot), Wally Szczerbiak (ankle), Delonte West (back) and Tony Allen (knee) are all sidelined.

Detroit lost its second straight game Friday, falling to Atlanta, 99-93. Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 32 points.

The Pistons hope guard Chauncey Billups will be available on Saturday. He has missed the last six games with a strained right calf. The Pistons are 2-4 without their point guard.

In their first meeting on November 3, Detroit posted a 101-88 victory as Billups and Hamilton combined for 47 points.
