Spurs aim for fourth straight win vs. high-scoring Wizards
Jan 13, 2007 - 5:11 PM Washington (20-15) at San Antonio (26-11) 8:00 pm ESTSAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs have bounced back from a surprising skid just in time to meet one of the NBA's most prolific scorers.
The Spurs now will aim for their fourth consecutive win when they face Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
Bouncing back from its season-high three-game losing streak, San Antonio turned it around against some of the lesser teams in the Western Conference with wins over Portland, Memphis and Denver.
The Spurs posted a 92-83 triumph over the Nuggets on Wednesday as Tony Parker had 26 points and seven assists to lead four starters in double figures. Tim Duncan collected 19 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks and Manu Ginobili added 16 points and four steals.
It won't be easy against the Wizards, who are one of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA. Arenas is among the league's leading scorers at 30.0 points per game.
Washington has won 16 of its last 22 games after a tough start to the season. However, on Friday, they lost to one of the league's worst teams, falling to the New Orleans Hornets, 104-97. Arenas scored 23 points in the loss.
Washington has dropped six straight contests against the Spurs on the road and 10 of the last 13 meetings overall.
