Lakers look to pick up rare road win vs. Spurs

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off an impressive home victory over the defending NBA champions. They will try for an even more impressive road win over the 2005 NBA champions.

The Lakers on Wednesday visit the San Antonio Spurs, who will be trying to get back on track.

Los Angeles is coming off Monday's 124-118 victory over Miami in which Brian Cook had 25 points and 10 rebounds. It was the fifth straight home win for the Lakers, who are 18-4 at Staples Center.

However, the Lakers are just 7-9 on the road, the worst road mark for any Western Conference team with a winning record. Their trip continues Thursday with a visit to Dallas, the league's best team.

The Spurs had a four-game winning streak snapped in Monday's 99-87 loss to Chicago in which point guard Tony Parker was held to a season-low six points.

In the only meeting between the teams this season, San Antonio suffered a 106-99 loss at Los Angeles on December 10.
