Miller, Gay lead Grizzlies past 76ers

Jan 18, 2007 - 6:28 AM MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Mike Miller sizzled in the first half to help end the Memphis Grizzlies' slide.

Miller scored 20 of his 30 points in the opening 24 minutes and rookie Rudy Gay added 23 as the Grizzlies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 118-102 triumph over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers.

Chucky Atkins and Lawrence Roberts had 13 points each for the Grizzlies, who shot 54 percent (42-of-78) from the floor and outscored the 76ers, 58-38, in the paint.

Miller shot 8-of-12, helping the Grizzlies to a 70-49 halftime lead.

Memphis used a 27-14 run in the first quarter, capped by a 3-pointer by Atkins, and an 11-0 run in the second, highlighted by a dunk from Gay to pull away.

Kyle Korver netted 30 points and Willie Green scored 23 for Philadelphia, which shot 50 percent (39-of-78).

The 76ers closed to within 97-86 on Andre Miller's layup with 9:19 to play in the game, but the Grizzlies followed with a 10-1 spurt to put away the game.

The Sixers have lost seven of eight games and are now tied with the Grizzlies for the least amount of wins (10) in the league.
