Duncan and Spurs look to right the ship, host Hornets

Jan 19, 2007 - 3:39 PM New Orleans (15-22) at San Antonio (27-13) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs look to shore up chinks in their once formidable armor when they host the New Orleans Hornets on Friday.

The Spurs suffered a 100-96 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Tim Duncan had 26 points and nine rebounds and Tony Parker added 25 for the Spurs, who have lost two straight and are just 7-7 in their last 14 games.

Manu Ginobili added 16 points for San Antonio, which is trying to avoid a three-game losing streak for the second time in three weeks.

The Hornets posted an 84-78 overtime win against Orlando on Tuesday.

Jannero Pargo had a season-high 25 points off the bench and Desmond Mason added 21 and nine rebounds for the Hornets, who still are without 2005 NBA Rookie of the Year Chris Paul, who is out until at least February after suffering a sprained ankle on December 26.

Rasual Butler had 19 points and 11 rebounds for New Orleans, which will be trying to win four in a row for the third time this season.

San Antonio has beaten the Hornets nine of the last 10 times.
