Miller, Grizzlies take on Brand and the Clippers

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Memphis Grizzlies, who have been playing better recently, ride into Los Angeles on Friday to take on the Clippers.

The Grizzlies earned their latest victory on Wednesday, cruising by Philadelphia, 118-102. Mike Miller scored 30 points and Rudy Gay had 23 points off the bench for Memphis, which is 4-6 since Tony Barone became interim coach.

Since the coaching change, Miller has averaged 24.6 points and 4.9 assists. Memphis was just 6-24 under fired coach Mike Fratello.

The Clippers defeated the Golden State Warriors 115-109 on Wednesday. Elton Brand had 27 points and 11 rebounds and Quinton Ross added 24 points, matching his career high for the second straight game.

Sam Cassell had 23 points and handed out 13 assists while Cuttino Mobley added 20 points and eight rebounds for Los Angeles, which has won four of its last five home games.

Los Angeles, which is battling Golden State and Denver for the eighth seed in the Western Conference, has won two straight over Memphis. However the Grizzlies have beaten the Clippers 11 of the last 15 times.

The Clippers haven't won three in a row in the series since 1997, when the Grizzlies played in Vancouver.
