Timberwolves welcome back Garnett, Davis vs. Jazz

Jan 22, 2007 - 5:26 PM Minnesota (20-19) at Utah (27-14) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves clearly don't want to play any more games without their two best players.

With Kevin Garnett and Ricky Davis returning from their suspensions, the Timberwolves hope to snap a three-game skid when they visit the Utah Jazz on Monday.

Minnesota clearly missed Garnett and Davis in Sunday's 131-102 loss at Phoenix.

The 2004 MVP, Garnett was suspended for the contest by the NBA for throwing a punch at Detroit's Antonio McDyess in Friday's loss to the Pistons. The Timberwolves on Sunday also were without Davis, who was suspended by the team for leaving the bench during Friday's contest.

Rookie Randy Foye stepped up in the absence of Minnesota's top two scorers, scoring a season-high 25 points in the loss to Phoenix.

The Timberwolves look to end their three-game slide Monday against Utah, which is coming off a 3-1 road trip.

Utah completed the road swing in successful fashion Saturday, posting a 95-85 victory in Chicago. Mehmet Okur collected 21 points and 11 rebounds and Carlos Boozer had 19 and 14 for the Jazz.

Minnesota won, 110-103, in the first matchup between the teams on December 8. Prior to that, the Timberwolves had won six of the last seven meetings.
