Iverson and Anthony have no problems with Grizzlies

Jan 23, 2007 - 4:53 AM DENVER (Ticker) -- If their first game together is any indication, Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson are going to be getting along just fine.

With the Pepsi Center buzzing in anticipation for the superstars' first game together this season, Anthony and Iverson did not disappoint in leading the Denver Nuggets to a 115-98 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Anthony was making his return from a 15-game suspension Monday. He was disciplined for his role in a brawl against the New York Knicks on December 16. The Nuggets went 7-8 during his absence.

Denver came into the game riding a three-game win streak and was obviously energized by the return of Anthony, racing out to a 38-18 lead after the first quarter.

The Nuggets led, 59-47, at the half behind 15 points from Anthony and 13 from Iverson.

"It felt good just to get back out on the court," Anthony said. "Everyone wanted to know how me and A.I. would play together and we showed them tonight."

Denver never trailed, and Iverson and Anthony put an exclamation point on the victory by connecting on a pair of ally-oop dunks in the fourth quarter, including a one-handed slam by Anthony off a feed from Iverson that made it 103-82 with just over six minutes to play and brought the crowd to its feet.

Anthony finished with 28 points, five rebounds and six assists while Iverson had 23, four and seven. J.R. Smith added 19 points and Steve Blake had 12 assists.

Pau Gasol had 23 points and 17 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have dropped five of their last six contests and have surrendered at least 100 points in their last 18 games.
