Spurs play final home game for 3 1/2 weeks vs. Grizzlies

Jan 26, 2007 - 5:29 PM Memphis (11-32) at San Antonio (30-14) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs are hoping to give their fans one final home triumph before a lengthy road trip.

The league's top defensive squad, the Spurs shoot for their eighth win in 11 contests Friday when they host the struggling Memphis Grizzlies.

The Spurs begin their annual Rodeo Road Trip on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers. The journey will cover eight games and nearly 10,000 miles in 19 days before returning home February 20. Seven of the eight opponents have winning records.

San Antonio had a three-game winning streak snapped with Wednesday's 90-85 loss here to the Houston Rockets. Tim Duncan made 15-of-28 shots, scored a season-high 37 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Spurs.

The Grizzlies have the league's worst record and are just 3-19 on the road this season. They have dropped all eight games against Southwest Division opponents and are 5-19 against Western Conference foes.

Memphis won for just the second time in seven outings with Wednesday's 132-130 victory over the Utah Jazz. Chucky Atkins scored 29 points and collected 15 assists.

San Antonio has won the last six matchups against Memphis, including a 110-96 triumph on January 7. Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 34 points.
