Nets hope to end road woes against rejuvenated Nuggets

Jan 27, 2007 - 4:16 PM New Jersey (20-23) at Denver (22-18) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- After suffering three straight demoralizing defeats, the New Jersey Nets will have to deal with superstars Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson.

After losing their first three contests in a five-game road-trip, the Nets will look to snap out of their funk against the Denver Nuggets, who are playing just their third game since Anthony returned from his 15-game suspension.

Just two days after squandering a 20-point lead in an 88-87 loss to Sacramento, the Nets blew a 12-point fourth-quarter advantage against the Warriors to drop their 10th consecutive game on the West Coast - six this season.

On Thursday, it was more of the same. New Jersey dropped yet another one-point decision and West-Coast game. Guard Vince Carter blew a defensive assignment, leaving open marksman Cuttino Mobley, who nailed the game-winning shot from the arc to drop the Nets, 110-109.

After taking on the Nuggets, New Jersey will finish its trip at Utah before returning home vs. Detroit on Wednesday.

The Nuggets dropped a 116-111 decision to Utah on Friday. Anthony scored 37 points and Allen Iverson added 33 and six assists for Denver, which lost for the first time in six games.

It will be the first meeting between the squads this season.
