Clippers can match season high with fifth consecutive win
Jan 27, 2007 - 4:28 PM Minnesota (20-22) at LA Clippers (21-21) 10:30 pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers seek to match a season-high winning streak when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
The Clippers have won four straight games by an average of 11.8 points to move back to .500.
Los Angeles squandered an 18-point third-quarter lead before Cuttino Mobley drilled a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining in Wednesday's 102-101 victory over the New Jersey Nets.
Corey Maggette and Elton Brand scored 18 points apiece, Mobley added 17 and Sam Cassell collected 15 and 10 assists for the Clippers.
Minnesota has yielded an average of 108.1 points in its season-high six-game losing streak. The Timberwolves are 0-2 under interim coach Randy Wittman, who replaced Dwane Casey.
The Timberwolves are coming off Friday's 102-100 loss to the Seattle SuperSonics in the fourth contest of a five-game road trip. Craig Smith scored 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting and Kevin Garnett added 17 with 10 rebounds.
After the Clippers won the season series against the Timberwolves last season for the first time since 1995-1996, the teams have split their last two meetings. Los Angeles posted a 92-91 win over Minnesota on January 10.
