Nets look to end road trip on a positive note vs. Jazz
Jan 29, 2007 - 4:44 PM New Jersey (21-23) at Utah (26-19) 9:00 pm ESTSALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Vince Carter and the New Jersey Nets finally pulled out a road win. A second straight victory figures to be tougher against one of the NBA's best home teams.
The Nets look to salvage the finale of their five-game road trip Monday when they visit the Utah Jazz.
After losing its first three games of the road trip in demoralizing fashion, New Jersey held on for a 112-102 triumph over Denver on Saturday.
The Nets fell at Sacramento, Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers by one point each, all on last-second shots. They squandered a 20-point lead to the Kings and a 12-point fourth-quarter advantage against the Warriors.
On Saturday, however, Carter scored 20 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter.
Reserve Bostjan Nachbar added a career-high 22 points and Jason Kidd added 18 and 12 rebounds to finally pull out a victory on the trip.
The Jazz had a multitude of injuries over the last two seasons but have been healthy this season, climbing to the top of the Northwest Division on the strength of a 16-5 home mark. But they have been victimized in each of their last two contests.
On Saturday, star forward Carlos Boozer - Utah's leading scorer and rebounder - departed less than four minutes into the contest with a sore knee after he collided with New Orleans' Tyson Chandler.
The Jazz already were without defensive-minded forward Andrei Kirilenko, who sprained his right ankle in Friday's win vs. Denver and is expected to miss several games.
Utah has won 10 of its last 12 home meetings with New Jersey.
