Cavaliers without injured James vs. new-look Warriors
Jan 30, 2007 - 6:09 PM Golden State (21-23) at Cleveland (25-19) 7:00 pm ESTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers will have to right the ship without superstar LeBron James.
With James sidelined with a sprained right big toe, the slumping Cavaliers will host the new-look Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
Averaging 27.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists, James sat out Friday's win at Philadelphia but returned to collect 30 points and nine rebounds in Sunday's home loss to Phoenix. He aggravated the injury late in the game.
The Cavaliers, who have lost six of their last eight games, list James as out against Golden State and day to day thereafter. They are a surprising 7-2 without their superstar since he entered the NBA in 2003.
According to Miami Herald, James is throwing a Super Bowl party at Mansion in South Beach on Wednesday. Cleveland's next game is Friday vs. Charlotte.
James' teammates will face a Golden State squad that is 2-2 since acquiring Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson and Sarunas Jasikevicius in an eight-player trade with Indiana.
Harrington has played well since joining his new team, averaging 25.3 points with the Warriors after scoring 15.9 in 36 contests before the deal. He had 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting in Saturday's 131-105 victory over Charlotte.
Opening a season-high six-game road swing, Harrington and Golden State will be looking for their first three-game winning streak since November 9-18. After dropping 12 straight contests in Cleveland, the Warriors have won two of their last three visits.
