Mavericks look to extend remarkable home winning streak

Jan 30, 2007 - 3:21 PM Seattle (17-27) at Dallas (36-9) 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks are great on the road. However, they are practically unbeatable at home.

Holding the league's best home mark at 20-3, the Mavericks hope to extend their dominance at American Airlines Center when they face the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday.

Dallas is looking for its 14th straight victory at home, with the loss here coming against the Detroit Pistons on December 7.

Although they seem unstoppable at home, the Mavericks have played well everywhere. They had won 21 of 22 games before having an eight-game winning streak snapped with 96-85 setback at the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.

However, Dallas bounced back in its last contest, defeating Sacramento, 106-104, on Saturday. Nowitzki fueled a pivotal fourth-quarter surge and sank a key jumper with 27 seconds remaining as the Mavericks resumed their winning ways. He had 32 points and 11 rebounds.

The SuperSonics are coming off one of their worst performances of the season, a 98-76 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Seattle could not get anything going offensively for most of the game, scoring a season-low 31 points in the first half, which set the tone for the rest of the contest.

Dallas is on an eight-game winning streak vs. Seattle, including three at home.
