Pistons look to stay hot vs. undermanned Bucks

Feb 2, 2007 - 4:44 PM Milwaukee (18-28) at Detroit (26-18) 8:00 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks have become totally different teams since their last meeting.

In a rematch of the season opener for both squads, the Pistons take on the undermanned Bucks on Friday.

Detroit did not look like a championship contender in its first game of the season. The Pistons were defeated by the Bucks, 105-97, on November 1.

In that contest, Milwaukee had the services of star guard Michael Redd, who averaged a whopping 39 points in two visits here last season. In the opener, the 6-6 sharpshooter picked up where he left off, scoring 37 points on 14-of-22 shooting to help the Bucks capture their first win in Detroit since January 11, 2003.

Milwaukee will have a much tougher time without Redd, who has missed the team's last 13 games with a knee injury. The team's leading scorer at 27.7 points per game, Redd's absence has affected the Bucks, who have lost 13 of their last 15 games.

On Wednesday, Milwaukee suffered a 98-73 loss to Orlando. Mo Williams scored 23 points and Andrew Bogut added 12 for the Bucks, who have lost their last six road games.

The Pistons have won five of their last seven contests. Detroit won its fourth straight game Wednesday, a 113-89 victory at New Jersey.

Richard Hamilton scored 24 points and Chauncey Billups added 18 for the Pistons. The guards were named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team as reserves Thursday.
