Bosh, Raptors look to stay atop Atlantic Division

Feb 4, 2007 - 3:19 PM LA Clippers (24-22) at Toronto (24-23) 12:00 pm EST

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors have taken hold of the lowly Atlantic Division.

Winners of five of their last six games, the Raptors will look to keep it going against the improving Los Angeles Clippers.

With all of its teams holding below .500 records for most of the season, many dubbed the Atlantic Division one of the worst in the history of sports. However, with its recent stellar play, Toronto has its record above .500 and is playing like it wants to take over a division that no one wanted.

In getting themselves over .500 for the first time in two years, the Raptors posted a 103-91 victory over Atlanta on Friday. Bosh, who was the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January, had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

However, Bosh did not play in the first matchup between the teams on December 20. Toronto defeated Los Angeles, 98-96, in that contest.

On Friday, the Clippers handed Boston a franchise-record 14th straight loss, 100-89. Elton Brand had 26 points and a season-high 19 rebounds for Los Angeles, which opened some breathing room with 13-4 run for a 91-81 advantage with 3:25 left to secure the victory.

After posting a 3-13 record over their first 16 road contests, the Clippers have won four of their last five away from home.
