Ailing James, Cavaliers look for rare win vs. Pistons

Feb 4, 2007 - 3:21 PM Detroit (27-18) at Cleveland (27-20) 2:30 pm EST

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers need superstar LeBron James to get better quickly.

With James nursing a sore toe, the Cavaliers look to snap their four-game losing streak against the division-leading Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

Bothered by the nagging injury, James missed practice on January 25 and sat out Cleveland's 105-97 victory over Philadelphia one day later. But the superstar forward returned for Sunday's marquee matchup with two-time MVP Steve Nash and Phoenix, collecting 30 points and nine rebounds in a 115-100 loss.

However, James has acknowledged that the injury may bother him for the entire season, but with the Cavaliers fighting for the top spot in the Central Division, he will need to persevere.

Cleveland has lost four straight games to Detroit, including an 87-71 loss in the last meeting on December 21. Trailing the Pistons by one game, the Cavaliers will look to pick up their first win against their division foes since December 31, 2005.

In its last contest, Cleveland posted a 101-81 blowout win over Charlotte on Saturday. One night after struggling in a matchup with Dwyane Wade and Miami, James had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who have split their last six games.
