Injury-ravaged Nuggets look to continue Suns' struggles

Feb 5, 2007 - 2:54 PM Phoenix (37-10) at Denver (23-22) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets cannot seem to stay healthy.

With four key players battling injuries, the Nuggets look to press on when they host the Phoenix Suns on Monday.

With Carmelo Anthony recently returning from a 15-game suspension, Denver hoped that he and All-Star Allen Iverson would have some time to gel.

However, Iverson missed his third straight game due to a right ankle sprain on Saturday. He is a game-time decision for Monday's contest.

Center Marcus Camby also left Saturday's game late in the fourth quarter due to a left groin strain, and forward Reggie Evans was sidelined in the second half due to a right ankle sprain. Both are questionable against the Suns.

Reserve guard Steve Blake suffered an upper lip laceration that required 12 stitches but will play on Monday. On Saturday, the Nuggets were defeated, 94-87, against Sacramento.

Nene scored 12 points and Camby grabbed 15 rebounds for Denver, which was coming off Friday's 114-107 overtime win over Portland, its only win in its last six games.

Denver will face off against Phoenix, which has lost two of its last three games after a franchise record 17-game winning streak.

After having their remarkable streak snapped against Minnesota on Monday, the Suns lost again on Saturday, 108-105, vs. Utah.

Amare Stoudemire collected 28 points and 10 rebounds and fellow All-Star Steve Nash chipped in 22 and 10 assists for Phoenix, which shot 53 percent (39-of-73) but surrendered 21 second-chance points.
