Nets try to snap out of funk vs. lowly 76ers
Feb 5, 2007 - 3:08 PM New Jersey (22-26) at Philadelphia (15-33) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Nothing seems to be going right for the New Jersey Nets.
Riding a three-game losing streak, the Nets look reverse their recent bad luck Monday when they visit the Philadelphia 76ers.
After losing the first three games of their five-game West Coast road trip in demoralizing fashion, New Jersey recovered in the final two games, capping the swing with Vince Carter's dramatic last-second shot to beat Utah.
However, they could not carry the momentum into their last three contests. On Sunday, the Nets were defeated 101-99 in overtime, victimized by a buzzer-beating shot to send them to their third consecutive loss.
Carter finished with 27 points and rookie Marcus Williams added 18 off the bench. Williams scored 14 of his points in the fourth quarter and overtime, but it was not enough to keep New Jersey from its fourth last-second loss in eight games.
The Nets will take on the 76ers, who have lost three of their last five games. On Friday, Philadelphia suffered a last-second defeat of their own, dropping a 102-101 decision to Golden State.
Andre Iguodala notched his third career triple-double recording 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds for the Sixers, who shot 48 percent (39-of-81) from the floor.
