Celtics face Pistons, look to snap franchise-worst skid

Feb 6, 2007 - 3:39 PM Boston (12-34) at Detroit (28-18) 7:30 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Boston Celtics lately have looked nothing like one of the most storied franchises in the history of sport.

Struggling through a franchise-record 14-game losing streak, the Celtics will look to finally pull out a win when they travel to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Boston, which has won an NBA-best 16 championships, eclipsed the previous low-water mark of 13 consecutive setbacks, reached during the 1993-94 and 1997-98 seasons with a 100-89 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

Perhaps even worse, Boston has dropped 11 straight home games and is 2-21 since posting a season-high five-game winning streak back in mid-December.

It will tough to snap the streak against the Pistons, who have won seven of their last nine games, including a 90-78 victory over Cleveland on Sunday. Chris Webber scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half and the Pistons ended up with six players in double figures.

Detroit has won the first two matchups between the teams, including an 81-73 victory on January 13.
