Mavericks try to tie franchise-record home winning streak

Feb 7, 2007 - 6:12 PM Memphis (12-37) at Dallas (39-9) 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) - The Dallas Mavericks try to match their franchise-record 16-game home winning streak when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

It appears to be an easy task for the Mavericks, whose 39-9 record is the best in the NBA. The Grizzlies are last in the Western Conference, 27 1/2 games behind the Mavericks.

Dallas has won 15 straight home games and can tie the mark set from January 3-March 3, 2006. Memphis has lost 10 straight road games and is a league-worst 3-20 on the road.

However, the Grizzlies gave the Mavericks a huge scare in a 95-94 home loss a week ago. Dirk Nowitzki, who is averaging 24.9 points, led Dallas with 26 points while Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse added 20 apiece.

Mike Miller led Memphis with 32 points, matching his second-highest output of the season. He scored 33 in a 144-135 win over Golden State on January 3.

One reason the Mavericks have the league's best record is a stingy defense that allows just 93.2 points per game, fourth-lowest in the NBA.

Memphis has struggled defensively in allowing 105.4 points, third-highest in the league.
