Nuggets hope to have Iverson back on Monday
Feb 12, 2007 - 2:57 PM Golden State (24-27) at Denver (25-24) 9:00 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets hope to get Allen Iverson back in the lineup when they host the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
Iverson has missed six of Denver's last seven games due to a right ankle injury.
Denver is ecstatic to have forward Carmelo Anthony back. Hurt by a 15-game suspension for his role in a brawl in New York earlier this season, Anthony was not named to the All-Star team when the reserves were announced. Leading the league at 30.9 points per game, the superstar forward became the first scoring leader in history to be omitted from the midseason showcase.
However, Anthony was saved by commissioner David Stern, who named Anthony to the squad as an injury replacement on Friday. Hours later, Anthony scored 34 points in a win over Indiana.
In Denver's 109-102 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday, Anthony collected 29 points and 10 assists.
Golden State is coming off a 123-121 overtime win over Chicago on Friday.
Nursing a nagging knee injury, Monta Ellis scored 16 points and nailed the go-ahead jumper with 42 seconds left in overtime. After leaving last Monday's game with a bruised left knee, Ellis returned on Wednesday at Minnesota but scored just six points in 16 minutes.
Al Harrington collected 24 points and nine rebounds in the win over Chicago.
