Nuggets begin tough three-game stretch against Spurs

Feb 20, 2007 - 2:02 PM Denver (26-25) at San Antonio (38-15) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets hope to have both Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony available for a change.

The Nuggets could use both players as they begin a tough three-game stretch against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

Denver, which has won three of its last four games, plays the Northwest Division-leading Utah Jazz on Friday and the league's top club - the Dallas Mavericks - on Saturday.

The Nuggets are just 2-4 when both Anthony and Iverson are in the lineup. Iverson, who is averaging 26.8 points a game in 20 contests with the Nuggets, has missed eight of the last nine games with a sprained right ankle. He is listed as day-to-day. Anthony is averaging 30.7 points per game, tops in the NBA.

The Spurs are 3-4 in their last seven contests after a 90-81 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Tim Duncan led San Antonio with 23 points and Manu Ginobili added 20.

Duncan scored 19 points and Ginobili added 16 in a 92-83 win over the Nuggets on January 10 in the clubs' only meeting this season.
