Sonics hope Allen and Lewis remain healthy

Feb 20, 2007 - 2:28 PM Memphis (14-40) at Seattle (20-32) 10:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle SuperSonics showed signs of life just before the All-Star break.

Winners of three of their last four games, the Sonics host the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Seattle went into the break with a 114-90 victory over Phoenix last Wednesday. The SuperSonics are 14th in the Western Conference and trail Minnesota by five games for the eighth and final playoff spot.

But the Sonics are finally healthy. Averaging a career-high 27.0 points, All-Star Ray Allen missed nine consecutive games in December due to an ankle injury. Rashard Lewis missed 22 with a torn tendon in his right hand but returned just before the break.

Lewis played in three games before the break and averaged 19.0 points and 6.7 rebounds. Teamed with Allen and improving center Nick Collison, Lewis should help Seattle be more competitive in the second half.

Memphis has won four of the last five meetings with the SuperSonics.
