Knicks seek to move closer to playoff spot

Feb 21, 2007 - 3:57 PM New York (24-30) at Philadelphia (17-36) 7:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- After shining on All-Star weekend, David Lee will take his show back on the road.

Lee and the New York Knicks will visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

A candidate for Most Improved Player, Lee scored 30 points and shot a perfect 14-of-14 from the field in Friday's Rookie-Sophomore Challenge to earn MVP honors during All-Star weekend.

Lee kept it going in New York's 100-94 win over Orlando on Tuesday. The NBA's most accurate shooter at 61 percent entering the game, Lee made 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line.

The Knicks (24-30) are playing under a mandate by owner James Dolan to make "significant progress" this season or coach Isiah Thomas would be fired. With the latest win, New York trails Orlando (27-27) and Miami (26-26) by three games for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

After a surprising two-game winning streak, the 76ers dropped three in a row before the All-Star break. Kyle Korver scored 18 points off the bench and Andre Iguodala had 14, 13 assists and eight rebounds for the 76ers in last Wednesday's 92-85 loss to Washington.
