Bobcats look for franchise-record winning streak

Feb 24, 2007 - 4:38 PM Toronto (30-25) at Charlotte (22-33) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- In the woeful Eastern Conference, even the Charlotte Bobcats have chance to make the playoffs.

Looking to set a franchise record with their fifth straight win, the Bobcats host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.

Almost every club seems to have a chance at securing a playoff berth in the East, including Charlotte. After starting the season 7-21, the Bobcats have gone 15-12 and are just 4 1/2 games behind Miami for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Charlotte tied a franchise record with its fourth win in a row, a 102-87 victory over Philadelphia on Friday. In his second straight impressive shooting performance, rookie Adam Morrison scored 19 points and Emeka Okafor collected 16 and 16 rebounds.

Okafor and coach Bernie Bickerstaff felt ill during Friday's contest. Bickerstaff left the bench and retreated to the locker room in the second half. Okafor, who was not feeling well in the shootaround, played with flu-like symptoms.

The first-place Raptors maintained a 4 1/2-game lead over New Jersey in the Atlantic Division.

Toronto rolled to a 110-88 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Rookie Andrea Bargnani scored eight of his 13 points during a 40-point outburst in the second quarter.
